 NEW PRODUCT INTRODUCTIONS MADE AT DSP EXPOSITION & SYMPOSIUM
 WHAT:
 The following new product introductions were made yesterday
 at the DSP Exposition & Symposium which is being held at
 San Jose Convention Center:
 AT&T
 Digital Signal Processors -- VCOS Multimedia Development
 Environment makes it easy for developers or multimedia
 applications to access the power of digital signal processors
 (DSPs). These developers simply link their programs with the
 multimedia modules.
 Analog Devices, Inc.
 ADSP-21020 Product Family includes a high-performance version
 of the company's floating-point DSP chip. The chip's
 architecture has been optimized to take advantage of programs
 and DSP algorithms written in high-level languages such as
 C and Numerical C, both of which are ANSI standards.
 Analogic Corporation
 The company's Hex C31 VME Board represents a new level of signal-
 processing performance in a single board (6U size) for the VME bus.
 The six TMS320C31 DSP chips run at 40 Mhz and generate 240MFLOPS
 (millions of floating-point operations per second) of peak
 performance.
 Ariel
 Hydra's architecture is ideally suited for small-, medium-, and
 large-scale arrays of parallel DSP chips. For small arrays of DSP
 chips, the Hydra's on-board shared memory provides for fast
 interprocessor communications. For medium-sized applications, the
 DSP chips can access any other resources on the VME bus, for
 example, data-acquisition boards, video frame buffers, and other
 Hydra boards.
 Data Translation
 DT-3801G Board is part of the company's DT3801 series. The board
 couples high-performance analog and digital input/output (I/O) with
 the latest DSP technology on a single card that plugs into an IBM
 personal computer, or compatible computer that provides an ISA bus.
 The card transforms a computer into a powerful, comprehensive test-
 and-measurement system.
 DSP Control Group
 Matrix-4 Motion Control Board is a digital high-performance 4-axis
 position controller. It uses several DSP chips which operate in
 parallel to control position and velocity loops for motors. An
 advanced software package and a library of C-language utilities
 accompany the product.
 DSP Group, Inc.
 By using a sophisticated speech-compression algorithm, the D7002A
 Chipset provides high voice quality while requiring only a fraction
 of the bandwidth needed previously for transmitting voice data over
 a network. Disk-storage requirements are also less. The chipset
 integrates all of the phone-monitoring and phone-management
 functions needed for easy integration of a phone in a personal
 computer.
 Hyperception
 Hypersignal-Windows RT is an integrated signal-processing software
 package with data acquisition, realtime digital signal processing,
 graphical analysis, visually programmed algorithm development, and
 DSP development tools.
 National Instruments
 Labview V2.5 is a new, portable version of the company's LabVIEW
 graphical programming software. It runs on personal computers that
 support Windows, or on Sun Sparcstations that run MIT's X Window or
 Open Windows. The software integrates digital signal processing in
 one complete system that includes graphical user interface tools,
 data acquisition libraries, and instrument libraries.
 Spectral Innovations
 The Lightning Effects Board in an advanced graphics-accelerator
 board that uses DSP technology. The board is aimed at users of
 Adobe's Printshop 2.0 and Fractal Design's ColorStudio software.
 The board is transparent to the user. It plugs into the Apple
 Macintosh's NuBus.
 Spectron Microsystems
 Used hand in hand with a powerful C-language complier and debugger,
 MicroSPOX furnishes the necessary software that unlocks the
 potential of fixed-point DSP software applications. Such software
 makes simultaneous use of the DSP chips as well as other real-time
 system functions.
 Spectrum Signal Processing, Inc.
 The company's MDC40S Module complies with Texas Instruments' TIM-40
 module standard and it can be used as a DSP "engine" on Spectrum's
 or other companies' motherboards. The module delivers a TMS320C40
 DSP chip as well as the chip's six parallel communication port.
 Star Semiconductor
 The SPOC-Lab Development System speeds product development by
 providing a cell library of over 200 analog and digital signal-
 processing functions that users combine in a graphical programming
 environment. Designers build applications by creating signal-flow
 blocks which the system automatically translates into program code,
 thus saving large amounts of development time.
 Tartan
 The FasTar Math Routines Library supplies "plug-compatible"
 mathematics functions that replace those in the Texas Instruments
 run-time library. The Tartan routines offer speed advantages over
 those supplied by TI. Tartan supplies several versions of the
 libraries for various memory models and for different parameter-
 passing conventions.
 Texas Instruments, Semiconductor Group
 The M Wave Multimedia System is a high-performance DSP chip aimed
 specifically at multimedia applications. The 16-bit chip runs at
 17 MIPS and it incorporates unique peripherals that are suited for
 multimedia applications.
 The TMS320C56 DSP Chip is perfectly suited for personal
 communication applications. With its low power consumption, bit-
 manipulation facility, and high speed operation, it is optimal for
 cellular radio base-band application. Also, its large on-chip
 memory range of peripherals make it an efficient solution for use
 in modems, voice coders, multiplexers, and echo-cancellation
 devices.
 Tucker Davis Technologies
 The AP2 DSP card plugs into an IBM Personal Computer or compatible
 computer and provides a 32-bit floating-point digital signal
 processor with 512 Kbytes of static random access memory (SRAM).
 The card supplies the APOS operating system which lets you record
 and play back digitized waveforms and perform number-crunching
 tasks. Fiber optic connections connect the card to external
 devices.
 Zoran Corporation
 The 040 Image-Compression Chipset is the first low-cost VLSI (very
 large-scale integration) implementation of the JPEG image-
 compression standard. The chip enables the development of low-cost
 full-motion video and still-image compression products, including
 computer add-on boards for multimedia applications, digital still
 cameras, and peripherals.
 The event runs through Friday, Oct. 16.
