 NEW PRESIDENT TO HEAD KEY ARMCO INC. DIVISION
 PARSIPPANY, N.J., Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Armco Inc. (NYSE: AS)


today named Robert M. Visokey president of Armco Advanced Materials Company, the corporation's largest division effective Sept. 1, 1992.
 Visokey, 49, comes to Armco from LTV Steel Company, where he is vice president of Purchasing and Traffic. He succeeds David E. Todd, who has elected to retire early next year. Todd will concentrate on the start- up of the company's joint venture stainless steel facility, North American Stainless, at Carrollton, Ky.
 "We're fortunate to have a person with Bob Visokey's background and experience in the specialty flat-rolled steel business," Armco President and Chief Operating Officer James F. Will said, in announcing Visokey's appointment as head of this strategically important Armco Business Unit.
 "He has a proven track record in every phase of our business, from melting through finishing, and will play a key role in making Armco the industry leader in specialty steels," Will said.
 A 1966 University of Pittsburgh graduate with a degree in chemical engineering, Bob Visokey joined Jones & Laughlin Steel Company in 1967 as a research engineer. (J & L became a subsidiary of LTV in 1974.) He held numerous positions in operations and management at LTV, including manager of operations-stainless plants, where he started up a 60-inch- wide cold anneal
and pickle line in 1979. He was named to his current post in 1989.
 Headquartered in Butler, Pa., with manufacturing plants in Butler and Zanesville, Ohio, Armco Advanced Materials Company employs about 3,200 persons. It is a major producer of flat rolled stainless and alloy electrical steel sheet and strip products. Markets served include automotive; aircraft and aerospace; electrical; food and chemical processing, and medical equipment.
 Armco Advanced Materials Company provides stainless slabs and hot bands or finishing operations at Butler and other Armco divisions, notably is Coshocton, Ohio stainless steel unit.
