NEW PRESIDENT FOR ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP ANNOUNCED BY JOY TECHNOLOGIES INC.

 PITTSBURGH, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Joy Technologies Inc. (NYSE: JOY) today announced that William J. Scott, Sr., formerly president of ABB Environmental Systems, a unit of Asea Brown Boveri Inc., has joined Joy Technologies Inc. as senior vice president of Joy Technologies Inc. and president of Joy's Environmental Group, effective Jan. 17, 1994.
 Mr. Scott, 50, previously held numerous senior management positions in ABB Flakt Inc., now a unit of ABB Environmental Systems, prior to joining Joy. He brings over 29 years of experience in pollution control, engineering and project management. Mr. Scott holds bachelor's degrees from the University of Alabama in both electrical and mechanical engineering.

Wray, chairman and chief executive officer, stated: "The addition of Bill Scott, an experienced and respected industry leader, is an important step in strengthening Joy's senior management team. His industry knowledge and technical skills will provide the leadership necessary to drive Joy's environmental businesses forward over the coming years. We look forward to his contributions."
 Joy Technologies Inc. manufactures and services mining equipment for the extraction of coal and other bedded materials. The Company is also a supplier of air pollution and ash handling equipment used for utilities and other industrial operations.
