NEW PRESIDENT ELECTED AT CORE INDUSTRIES INC
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Core Industries Inc

(NYSE: CRI) announced today that David R. Zimmer was elected by the board of directors as president, chief executive officer and director.
Since 1990, Zimmer was president and chief executive officer of New Venture Gear, Inc., a manufacturing joint venture forme Big Three domestic automotive companies. Prior to serving as president of New Venture Gear, Zimmer was vice president and general manager of The Electronics Group of Acustar, Inc. (a subsidiary of Chrysler Corporation). Zimmer joined Chrysler in 1979 after a career at Ford Motor Company and was part of a small management team that facilitated Chrysler's restructuring efforts in the early 1980s.
Zimmer attended the U.S. Naval Academy, is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and received his MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
Zimmer stated: "It was not an easy decision for me to leave New Venture Gear and Chrysler, but I've always wanted the entrepreneurial challenge of leading a New York Stock Exchange manufacturing company. It's an opportunity that I couldn't turn down."
It was also announced that Richard T. Walsh resigned as president, chief executive officer and director to pursue other career opportunities.
Harold M. Marko, who retired as chairman of Core in 1991, expressed the appreciation of the company for Walsh's long and significant service to the company. Marko stated that, "Dick Walsh is a good friend and I wish him well in his new endeavors."
The company also announced that Lawrence J. Murphy, executive vice president of Core, and Jay Alix, president and chief executive officer of Jay Alix & Associates, were elected to the board of directors.
Core Industries is a manufacturer of specialty products for three basic industries - electronics, farm equipment, and fluid controls and construction products.
