NEW PHONE SERVICE, IDEAL FOR RENTAL PROPERTIES, LIMITS OUTGOING CALLS

NEWARK, N.J., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Rental property owners no longer will have to worry about connecting and disconnecting service or having renters run up high phone bills, thanks to a new telephone service offered by New Jersey Bell.
Call Restriction, an optional service approved today by the state Board of Regulatory Commissioners, allows customers to restrict calls made from residence or small business phone lines.
With the service, the line can receive an unlimited amount of calls from any location. Calls placed from the restricted line must be either local calls, calling card calls, third-number billed calls, collect calls, operator assisted calls, or calls to 411, 611 and 911.
Anyone attempting to make a restricted call will hear an announcement saying the call cannot be completed as dialed.
"Call Restriction takes the worry out of having a line in a place where it is available for others to use," said Pat Fisher, Bell Atlantic Network Services, Inc. product manager for Call Restriction. "If you're renting your beach house, for example, you can simply suggest to your renter that they get a Bell Atlantic IQ Card or other calling card or let them know they'll have to make only collect or third-number billed calls while using your property."
New Jersey Bell will offer the service at $8.50 per month for residence customers and $10.50 per month for business customers.
"This service is an excellent replacement for alternatives customers previously used to limit their exposure to billing problems, such as cancelling phone service or subscribing to more expensive options," Fisher said.
