NEW NATIONAL TELEVISION SERIES, 'EMERGING PUBLIC COMPANIES', ANNOUNCES SELECTION OF FOUR COMPANIES TO BE FEATURED ON MARCH 20 PREMIERE ON CNBC

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- A new national television series, "Emerging Public Companies," will feature four growth companies on its March 20 premiere on CNBC, which the producers said were selected on the basis of their having the best prospects for growth in the 1990s.
The four companies are First Pacific Networks, Inc., Columbia Hospital Corporation, Embrex, Inc. and SciClone Pharmaceuticals, said Executive Producer Louis Andreana, whose company, The Hastings Group, is producing the half-hour series set to debut from 4:30-5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, on the NBC Cable Network.
First Pacific Networks has developed a cutting edge communications technology that makes possible the transmission of telephone, computer and video communications over a single wire at a lower per-user cost than existing multi-wire technologies, Andreana said.
"Our editorial board of review, which is responsible for selecting the best growth companies to be featured on the series, was impressed with First Pacific's ability to provide end-users with a utility bill that breaks down the cost of each appliance in the home, much like a long distance phone company itemizes long distance phone calls," he said.
Embrex has a patented, commercial, automated in-egg inoculation technology system, which Andreana said has the potential of revolutionizing the $55 billion poultry broiler industry worldwide.
Andreana said that SciClone Pharmaceuticals' lead compound, Zadaxin, may well become "the drug of choice" to combat Hepatitis B, the world's second most infectious disease. Its potential sales are in the multi- billion dollar range.
And at a time when the entire country is focused on reducing health care costs, "Columbia Hospital Corporation has developed a number of effective strategies to accomplish what has become a national objective, while providing high-quality healthcare services to metropolitan area residents whose medical costs are soaring."
The half-hour series will reach over 48 million television households via the NBC Cable Network. In addition to airing on CNBC, the series will be distributed to leading universities and colleges to give students a first hand, close-up look at some of America's fastest- growing small to medium-sized growth companies.
Program highlights include interviews with the chief executive officers and top management of companies profiled, an examination of their products and new technologies they have developed and an overview of industries in which they are positioned to become future leaders.
To qualify to be featured on Emerging Public Companies, companies must meet strict criteria and have developed potentially explosive new technologies in a growing industry.
