NEW LINE'S 'HOUSE PARTY 3' THE NO. 1 MOVIE IN AMERICA

FILM HIP-HOPS TO NO. 1 SPOT AT BOX-OFFICE
 WITH $1,100,000 OPENING NIGHT GROSS

`HOUSE PARTY 3' OUTGROSSES `HOUSE PARTY 2' BY 50% ON 300 FEWER SCREENS
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- "House Party 3," New Line Cinema's comedy starring Kid 'N Play, took the No. 1 spot at the national box-office Wednesday night with an impressive $1,100,000 gross, making it the No. 1 movie in America, it was announced today by Mitchell Goldman, President of New Line Distribution and Marketing. "House Party 3" debuted in 800 theatres with a per screen average of approximately $1,375, the highest of any film in wide release.
Goldman noted that "House Party 3" outgrossed its predecessor, "House Party 2," by 50% on 300 fewer screens, and said the film had set numerous house records around the country for a non-holiday Wednesday.
He added, "We're elated that we've successfully counter-programmed this picture in the marketplace. We're also pleased to report that the predictions that the `House Party' franchise was tired are totally erroneous. Our early indication of word-of-mouth is that audiences are enjoying `House Party 3' more than any other, so we're expecting a very strong weekend."
"House Party 3" was directed by Eric Meza and produced by Carl Craig ("Hollywood Shuffle," "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka"). In addition to Kid 'N Play, the film also features "Def Comedy Jam" comedians Bernie Mac, Michael Colyar, Chris Tucker and Angela Means, as well as the musical groups Immature and TLC.
