NEW LIGHTING BOOKLET SHOWS CONSUMERSHOW TO LIGHT THEIR KITCHENS AND BATHS

DALLAS, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- A new lighting booklet, "Light Up Your Kitchen and Bath," is now available from the American Lighting Association.
The 16-page booklet, which was authored by ALA experts, uses colorful photographs to demonstrate the different lighting techniques consumers can use to illuminate their kitchens and baths.
Taking into account the various activities that occur in these two rooms, the booklet illustrates how general, task and accent lighting can be used to transform the kitchen and bath into comfortable, yet utilitarian living spaces.
For easy reference, the booklet also contains drawings of the various lighting fixtures that are available for each room.
A special section on light sources depicts the various incandescent, halogen and fluorescent bulbs and tubes that are found in kitchens and baths, along with charts indicating their various characteristics, including their color temperatures and the effects these different color temperatures produce.
"Families are spending more time in the kitchen, and bathrooms are becoming private retreats where we unwind and pamper ourselves," said Susan Solomon, vice president of the American Lighting Association. "With our new booklet, consumers can learn how to effectively light each room to accommodate a variety of activities."
Consumers can obtain copies of the booklet by sending $2 to: American Lighting Association, P.O. Box 580168, World Trade Center, 2050 Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, TX 75209.
The booklets are also available at local American Lighting Association showrooms. To find out where the nearest ALA showroom is located, call 800-BRIGHT-I (274-4484).
