NEW JERSEY CASINO CONTROL COMMISSION REPORTS REVENUES
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The casino industry

reported gross revenues of $261,161,511 during March, a year-to-year increase of 6.7 percent.
The industry's revenues for the first quarter of 1992 were $753,429,814, which is a 14.5 percent increase over revenues in the first quarter of 1991.
The year-to-year increase in March was due entirely to a $17.1 million increase in slot machine win, which is 11.3 percent higher than March 1991 slot revenues. Table game win declined by $791,000, or 0.8 percent, during March.
The largest one-day "win" of the month occurred on March 28, when Trump Taj Mahal had gross revenues of $2,764,661. Trump Taj Mahal also had the month's only other $2 million day, winning $2,613,366 on March 21.
There were 76 times during the month in which individual casinos won more than $1 million in a day, with 37 occurring on Saturdays. The Claridge was the only casino to not have at least one $1 million day during the month.
Nine out of 12 casino hotels experienced increased revenues this March. Harrah's Marina, Bally's Park Place and Trump Plaza reported declines in revenue, compared to March 1991. Trump Taj Mahal reported the largest gross revenues for the month at $32,894,765, the only casino to report revenues of more than $30 million. A year earlier, Trump Taj Mahal won $31,743,907.
Trump's Castle, with March revenues of $18,917,675, had the highest percentage increase from March 1991, which is a 21.2 percent increase over its March 1991 revenues of $15,608,345.

Gross revenue is the amount of money a casino retains after all bets have been paid, but before operating or other extraordinary expenses have been paid. Gross revenue, commonly called "win," does not mean net profit.

The fund collects an eight percent tax on all casino "win,'' which it uses to fund programs for senior citizens and disabled people. The programs include pharmaceutical assistance, property tax rebates, transportation aid and lifeline assistance.
Since the first casino opened in May 1978, the fund has collected $2,128,594,884, plus an additional $108,426,028 in interest.
