               FOR PERSONS WITH HAND MOTOR DIFFICULTIES
    WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognizing that many persons with poor motor coordination have difficulties using a computer keyboard, IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced KeyGuard, a molded plastic keyboard overlay for better key control.
    Many users with palsied or other motor coordination conditions use the IBM KeyGuard to keystroke with less difficulty and reduce unwanted keystrokes.  KeyGuard can also be used by young children who have not yet mastered keyboarding skills.
    KeyGuard attaches securely to the keyboard and can be used on the IBM Personal System/2(Note A), Application System/400(Note A), and RISC System/6000(Note B).
    According to Walt Nawrocki, Manager, IBM Special Needs Systems, "With the advent of the Americans with Disabilities Act, many companies may want to see how the KeyGuard can help them in accommodating an employee with motor coordination problems.  Additionally, in a busy office where alot of keying is done, the design of the KeyGuard minimizes accidental keystrokes."

    This eighth product in the IBM Independence Series(Note B) of Solutions for People with Disabilities can be used by both adults and children to make computers more accessible at work, home or school.
