NEW HENKEL SURFACTANT CONCENTRATES TO MEET NEW MARKETPLACE NEEDS

AMBLER, Pa., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Henkel Corporation today introduced its expanded line of GLUCOPON(R) Surfactant Concentrates, which assist manufacturers of household, industrial and institutional cleaning products in meeting the new, demanding needs of the marketplace while reducing production costs.
"Our GLUCOPON Surfactant Concentrates give manufacturers the same performance advantages as GLUCOPON Surfactants along with added ease in product formulation and manufacturing," said Anthony J. DeRosa, vice president of Henkel Corporation's Detergent and Personal Care Divisions.
GLUCOPON Surfactant Concentrates deliver the unusual combination of detergency and mildness. They also exhibit good foaming, ease of dilution, and they do not gel. The concentrates are high active, as much as 50 percent. GLUCOPON Surfactant Concentrates offer good total value, and manufacturers can obtain superior performance at lower surfactant levels than are typical with conventional surfactants.
In addition, with GLUCOPON Surfactant Concentrates, overall manufacturing costs can be lowered. With the concentrates, cleaning products are manufactured more efficiently because less active surfactant content is used, and fewer raw materials, less mixing and less handling are required.
GLUCOPON Surfactant Concentrates are composites of Henkel's advanced GLUCOPON Surfactants and conventional surfactants. GLUCOPON Surfactants are comprised of Henkel alkyl polyglycosides, which are made from natural raw materials -- glucose derived from corn and fatty alcohols from coconut and palm-kernal oils.
"GLUCOPON Surfactant Concentrates are ideal for use in liquid dish and liquid hand soaps, concentrated laundry liquids and hard-surface cleaning liquid products," said DeRosa. "They take away much of the effort of formulating a product and, because they dilute easily, manufacturing procedures are simplified."
"Our GLUCOPON Surfactant Concentrates respond to the needs of the marketplace," said DeRosa. "Right now, consumers want more value for their money, along with mildness, without sacrificing cleaning performance, and they favor products made from natural raw materials. Manufacturers are committed to meeting consumer requirements, and they are under price competition and must reduce total costs."
Current GLUCOPON Surfactant Concentrate products are:
-- GLUCOPON AV-110 Surfactant Concentrate is a 50 percent-active composite of anionic and alkyl polyglycoside surfactants. The concentrate has been optimized to provide maximum performance benefits when used with other additives in hand dish-washing liquids, liquid laundry detergents and hard-surface cleaners.
-- GLUCOPON AV-120 Surfactant Concentrate is designed for use in liquid hand soaps and waterless hand cleaners. Formulated with alkyl polyglycoside surfactants and an anionic surfactant, the concentrate is 50 percent-active, and offers exceptional mildness, along with high- foaming character and excellent cleaning.
-- GLUCOPON AV-123 Surfactant Concentrate for liquid hand soap is a 37 percent-active composite of anionic and alkyl polyglycoside surfactants, along with mildness-promoting additives. The concentrate is versatile; this one concentrate can be used for clear, pearlescent and anti-bacterial liquid hand soaps. The manufacturer has only this one concentrate to inventory for the three different kinds of hand soaps. Consequently, manufacturing is simplified.
GLUCOPON Surfactant Concentrates and GLUCOPON Surfactants are available from Henkel Corporation's CD Division, based in Ambler, which supplies surfactants, other ingredients and related services to manufacturers of household, private-label, institutional and industrial cleaning products.
