Grace's National Medical Care Unit and Immunecare Form Partnership
KEY WEST, Fla., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- ImmuneCare of Key West, a innovative model for HIV-positive community-based care, will open its comprehensive, state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facility on February 28.
The Center offers a comfortable environment for free initial HIV screenings, which include lab testing and clinical staff consultation, as well as comprehensive medical programs utilizing the most up-to- date technology.
"Our experienced professional staff provides a complete array of medical, dietary, financial and social services to treat HIV-positive patients at one community-based center," said Larry Siegel, M.D., medical director and founding physician of ImmuneCare of Key West.
The specialized medical staff will administer a wide variety of treatments including complex intravenous and aerosolized drug therapies.
"We are strongly committed to providing accessible medical and counseling services to encourage early detection and treatment of HIV." Dr. Siegel, a nationally known AIDS author and lecturer who has treated AIDS patients since 1982, explained that early diagnosis is essential to lessening the effects HIV can have on the body's immune system.
ImmuneCare of Key West also conducts seminars and workshops on the topics of HIV, AIDS and related issues. Through its network of affiliates, ImmuneCare can arrange continuing medical care nationwide for individuals who travel.
ImmuneCare of Key West is a partnership between ImmuneCare, Inc. and NMC Ventures, a subsidiary of National Medical Care, Inc., a unit of W. R. Grace in Boca Raton, Fla. The opening of this ambulatory HIV treatment facility is consistent with Grace's 1992 strategic business plan in which Grace will focus on six core health care and specialty chemicals businesses. It is the intention of Grace to upgrade and grow its health care businesses through National Medical Care and projects such as this development with ImmuneCare.
 W. R. Grace is the world's largest specialty chemicals company with a leadership position in health care.
