 NEW ENGLAND TELEPHONE ISSUES $200 MILLION OF DEBT SECURITIES
 BOSTON, Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- New England Telephone has announced the public offering of an aggregate of $200 million of debt securities.
 The financing was split into two issues. Lehman Brothers is sole underwriter for the $100 million, 30-year debentures, callable in 10 years, with a coupon of 7-7/8 percent, priced at 99.226 percent to yield 7.943 percent.
 Morgan Stanley is the sole underwriter for the $100 million, 7-year, non-callable notes with a coupon of 6.15 percent, priced at 99.375 percent to yield 6.262 percent.
 Both the notes and the debentures are being sold pursuant to a shelf registration statement covering an aggregate of $300 million of debt securities. The proceeds from the issues will be used to repay the company's outstanding $200 million 9-1/2 percent note maturing Oct. 1, 1992.
 New England Telephone is a wholly owned subsidiary of NYNEX Corporation (NYSE: NYN).
