 NEW DIGITAL CONTROLLER ALLOWS
KODAK COLOREDGE COPIER TO FUNCTION AS SCANNER, PRINTERS
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK) has signed a joint marketing agreement to sell and distribute the Fiery ColorLaser controller from Electronics For Imaging Corporation, (EFI), San Bruno, California.
The Fiery controller is a digital continuous tone print controller that enables users to print color data and image files from computer workstations on Kodak ColorEdge 1550 and Kodak ColorEdge 1525 copiers. Capabilities for the ColorEdge copier/printer include producing direct hard copy output for presentation graphics, training manuals and client concept proofs for advertising materials.
Kodak plans to make the Fiery controller available to customers in the United States and Canada beginning mid-year 1992 with a limited geographic rollout.
The controller is expected to have a list price of approximately $35,000.
"Making the ColorEdge 1525 or 1550 copiers perform as multifunctional devices is an integral part of how we intend to meeting changing customer needs," said Michael D. Stoudt, general manager, Marketing, Kodak Office Imaging. "It is consistent with our dual path strategy, which allows customers to easily make the transition from paper-based to digital-based imaging systems." With the Fiery controller, the ColorEdge 1550 and 1525 copiers operate as a printer and scanner, as well as a copier.
In March of 1991, the Kodak ColorEdge 1525 and the Kodak ColorEdge 1550 copiers joined the family of color copiers and duplicators from Kodak. Together with the Kodak ColorEdge copier-duplicator, the fastest color copier on the market, Kodak now offers color copying and printing solutions for a broad variety of customer needs.
