NEW CHILD CARE BROCHURE AVAILABLE FROM AU PAIR IN AMERICA
GREENWICH, Conn., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- A free brochure detailing the live-in European child care program sponsored by Au Pair in America is now available from the American Institute For Foreign Study(R) of Greenwich. Conn.
Twenty-eight hundred Europeans aged 18-25 will be assisting U.S. families this year through Au Pair in America, the cultural exchange program in which au pairs stay for one year and provide 45 hours a week child care. Besides babysitting, they drive children to lessons, change diapers, prepare meals and run errands. Au pair means "on a par" or equal, or how the young person is expected to fit into the family.
Au Pair in America is a government-designated program; the young Europeans come to the United States legally with J-1 visas. More than 13,000 families have participated in the program since its inception in 1986.
The program costs approximately $170 per week which includes the au pair's pocket money, insurance, visa, orientation and flight. Families also pay an education allowance.
