NEW CEO AT VNU BUSINESS INFORMATION SERVICES, INC.
NEW YORK, Dec. 1, /PRNewswire/ -- Ernst de Flines, 54, chairman and CEO of VNU Business Information Services, Inc., the American subsidiary of Dutch Publishing Group VNU, will step down effective Jan. 31, 1994. De Flines will join the VNU-BIS Supervisory Board. VNU board member Rob van den Bergh, currently based in the Netherlands, will assume the role of chairman and CEO of VNU-BIS effective Feb. 1, 1994. "VNU has been very fortunate to have had Ernst de Flines as its American CEO for the past three years," said Mr. van den Bergh. "He joined as a consultant in 1990 to help us identify initiatives for our U.S. operations. We asked him to become CEO in early 1991, and he agreed to take on that responsibility for as long as it took to carry out his recommended programs. VNU-BIS has now been consolidated and its financial results have been improved significantly," van den Bergh added. Van den Bergh, 42, will be headquartered in New York City and be responsible for all of VNU's North American Business units with total annual revenues of over $150 million. This includes media and marketing information companies; including as Claritas (geodemographic systems); Scarborough (market-by-market consumer research); Interactive Market Systems (media planning systems) and Competitive Media Reporting, the media expenditure tracking company owned jointly by VNU and Arbitron.
