 MINNEAPOLIS, July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Car owners frustrated by not


knowing how much to pay for repair and maintenance can get a quick second opinion from a national GE phone information service beginning today.
 CarPro(SM) Auto Advisors, a division of GE Capital's Fleet Services business, is an annual membership service that provides unbiased information on car maintenance, repair problems and cost estimates. Consumers can obtain information about CarPro by calling 1-800-2-CARPRO.
 "Most consumers know how it feels to take their car to the garage for routine maintenance and be told it needs additional repairs," said Randi Redmond, CarPro president. "Consumers are unsure and feel at a disadvantage because of a lack of information. CarPro provides an unbiased second opinion to its members to help them make better car care decisions and save money."
 Redmond noted that a recent survey shows that car owners take their automobiles to the shop four times a year for routine maintenance and repairs, costing an average of $478 annually. But almost 60 percent don't know whether they are getting a fair deal. Last year, CarPro test market members reported average savings of $191 per repair(a).
 Questions are answered by certified automobile mechanics experienced in diagnosing and repairing all makes of domestic and foreign vehicles. Information from CarPro is objective, since it is not affiliated with any particular repair shop or manufacturer.
 Each CarPro advisor's personal expertise is backed by a sophisticated computer database containing the latest industry information including automobile parts and labor time costs from across the country. Members also can receive information on used car pricing, recalls and warranties.
 Introductory memberships in the CarPro Auto Advisors service are available for $49.00 a year. Members can call their auto advisors at 1-800-2-CARPRO from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (CST) Monday through Friday, and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are no limits on how often members can use the service or how long they may talk with a CarPro advisor. Members receive satisfaction guaranteed service from CarPro, with membership fees refunded in full if a member cancels for any reason during the first year of service.
