NEW BOOKS ON SETTING UP AND OPERATING A SMALL BUSINESS

MINNEAPOLIS, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- "How to Set Up Your Own Small Business" is the title to a newly published text by the American Institute of Small Business. Written for the individual who wishes to start up his or her own business or the existing small business person needing to improve operations, the new text is like an encyclopedia for operating a business.
Every aspect of setting up and operating a small business is covered including: How a person selects the right business for him or herself, how to measure one's strengths and weaknesses followed by a comparison between buying a business or starting from "scratch." Additional chapters include: How to write a business plan, preparing a loan proposal, a description of 16 different financing alternatives, site selection, franchising and choosing the right form of business organization.
Other subjects covered are bookkeeping, accounting and tax form preparation, advertising, public relations, sources of supply, sales forecasting, and avoiding the pitfalls that lead to business failure ... even a section on how to handle the emotional aspects of running a business. An entire chapter is devoted to market research which includes a comprehensive reference section and one on computer applications for small business.
The books are written in a "layman" language format which makes them easy to understand. They also contain numerous examples and case studies.
In making the announcement of the new publication, Max Fallek, director of the Institute stated: "The decade of the 90s is seeing an explosion in small business start ups. The reasons for this include not only the two traditional ones of: fulfilling the American Dream and achieving Financial Success but that of more people are looking at a vocation that truly makes them happy -- that's what owning ones own business does."
The American Institute of Small Business is a leading publisher of books, computer software and educational materials on small business and entrepreneurship. It also provides statistical information on small business to industry and to the nation's press.
The two volume set "How To Set Up Your Own Small Business" sells for $112.95. For more information, write or call the American Institute of Small Business, 7515 Wayzata Blvd., Minneapolis, Minn., 55426, or call toll free 800-328-2906.
