NEW AMERICAN AIRLINE MAKES DRAMATIC TAKEOFF IN RUSSIA
JAMAICA, N.Y., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Baltia Air Lines, the

newest American air carrier, is taking to the stage of the Russian theater to dramatize the introduction of its services to the public.
On Monday, April 20 Brian Glynn, senior vice president of the New York based carrier, will host a reception for the Russian media on the stage of the Kirov Theater in St. Petersburg. Glynn will be explaining how easy it will become to fly to and from the U.S.
This summer, Baltia Air Lines will begin operating non-stop flights from New York's JFK International Airport to St. Petersburg and Riga, the capital of Latvia; with connecting flights to Minsk, the capital of the new commonwealth; Kiev, the capital of the Ukraine and Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
Some of the first passengers will be approximately 500 personnel of the Kirov Opera and Ballet companies, now known as the Maryinsky Theater. Baltia Air is sponsoring their visit to New York this summer for the St. Petersburg Festival at the Metropolitan Opera.
"This will be the first ever appearance by the Maryinsky Theater as a whole outside of Russia," said Glynn. "We are delighted to be the official carrier and sponsor of a cultural first." Following the Kirov reception, Glynn will be traveling to other Baltia Air Lines destination cities: Riga, Minsk and Kiev. He will be interviewing candidates for staff positions with the new air line.
Baltia Air Lines is the first new U.S. air carrier to win the approval to fly international routes since 1983. Last year, the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded Baltia Air Lines the rights to several key eastern European cities over established U.S. carriers because it was convinced that Baltia was dedicated to providing a better service in a niche market. The air line was founded by Latvian born Igor Dmitrowsky who came to America 15 years ago.
