NEW ALLOCATION OF RESPONSIBILITIES WITHIN RHONE-POULENC'S EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

 PARIS, Nov. 19 ~PRNewswire~ -- Following the appointment of Jean- Marc Bruel as vice chairman of Rhone-Poulenc (NYSE: RPU), a new allocation of supervisory responsibilities within the executive committee has been agreed and is effective as of Dec. 1, 1992:
 Mr. Jean-Marc Bruel chiefly assumes the functions of vice chairman of the group. Furthermore, he supervises the fibers and polymers sector, the corporate function quality, safety, environment and the Asian countries.
 Mr. Philippe Desmarescaux is appointed group president. He supervises the Agro, specialty chemicals, and organic and inorganic intermediates sectors, scientific affairs, and the North American countries.
 Mr. Igor Landau is appointed group president. He supervises the health sector, the human resources and communications corporate functions, the European Economic Community and European Free Trade Association countries.
 Mr. Edson Vaz Musa is appointed executive group vice president. He supervises Rhodia in Brazil, as chairman of the same company, international affairs, industrial coordination, industrialization, and the South American countries.
 Mr. Jean-Pierre Tirouflet is appointed executive group vice president. He supervises the group finance, strategic planning, controlling functions, as well as information systems, and the group secretary.
 In addition, Mr. Michel de Rosen assumes the general management of the fibers and polymers sector.
 As the main governing body within Rhone-Poulenc the executive committee, presided over by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Jean- Rene Fourtou, defines general corporate strategy, decides on its joint policies, and takes the major decisions concerning the group. The executive committee works as a team and its members are appointed "intultu personae". Each member is responsible, on behalf of the executive committee, for supervising the operating activities, functions and geographic locations of the group allocated to him.
