OAK BROOK, Ill., April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- What do Olympic gold medalist Bonnie Blair, comic Howie Mandel, actor Ricardo Montalban, country singer Dwight Yoakam, gospel singers BeBe and CeCe Winans, and Captain Kangaroo (Bob Keeshan) have in common with millions of Americans? They're all "getting what they want at McDonald's today" -- and beginning April 12, these celebrities will show how in a new television advertising campaign for McDonald's.
According to Roy Bergold, vice president of advertising for McDonald's, the celebrities starring in the campaign are real-life McDonald's customers. "We're committed to treating every customer like a star when they visit McDonald's," states Bergold. "The campaign demonstrates that no matter who you are or what you do, McDonald's is a real value -- we have the food you want, at prices you deserve, with fast, friendly service." The 30-second commercials are part of McDonald's ongoing value campaign focusing on food, price and service.
The campaign shows how the celebrities experience McDonald's in their own lives. Bonnie Blair, for example, stops by McDonald's with her mom after a run in the park, while Dwight Yoakam enjoys breakfast from McDonald's at his ranch. Ricardo Montalban and his granddaughters are featured in a Spanish-language spot.
Commercials featuring Bonnie Blair, Howie Mandel, Dwight Yoakam and Bob Keeshan were created by Leo Burnett Company, McDonald's lead U.S. ad agency since 1981. Commercials featuring BeBe and CeCe Winans and Ricardo Montalban were created by Burrell Advertising and Castor Advertising, respectively.
McDonald's is the world's leading foodservice organization, with more than 12,000 restaurants in 61 countries. Approximately 80 percent of McDonald's restaurant businesses are locally owned and operated by independent entrepreneurs.
