NEURON DATA CLIENT/SERVER TOOLS INTEROPERATE WITH GUI TESTING TOOL FROM SEGUE SOFTWARE

CHICAGO, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Neuron Data Corporation, a leader in object-oriented application development tools, today announced that its new OPEN INTERFACE ELEMENTS(TM) and C/S ELEMENTS(TM) products are fully compatible with the QA Partner(TM) testing tool from Segue Software (Boston). Early users of the Segue/Neuron Data tool combination are implementing the tools to build and test graphical user interfaces for commercial and corporate (in-house) software.
Neuron Data has established quality assurance and quality control as a key area of focus for its partnership efforts. Segue is the second major quality assurance/testing vendor to certify interoperability with Neuron Data's tools in the past three months. In September, Mercury Interactive announced the integration of its XRunner/WinRunner testing systems with OPEN INTERFACE ELEMENTS. The combination of Neuron Data application development tools with these third-party testing products enables developers to ensure software quality while reducing time to market. This is a key capability for both corporate and commercial application development teams.
OPEN INTERFACE ELEMENTS is a comprehensive application development environment for building portable graphical user interfaces (GUIs). C/S ELEMENTS is a client/server application development tool that is a superset of OPEN INTERFACE ELEMENTS. C/S ELEMENTS features full GUI development capabilities, a message-based script language for rapid application development and a modular data access facility for transparent access to heterogeneous data sources. Both products support more than 40 hardware platforms and their native windowing environments, including Microsoft Windows and Windows NT; OS/2 Presentation Manager; Apple Macintosh; Motif and OpenLook. OPEN INTERFACE V3 and C/S ELEMENTS V1 began shipping last month.
Segue's QA Partner is a cross-platform GUI test tool that supports comprehensive testing of user interface code across a range of platforms and windowing environments, including Microsoft Windows and Windows NT, Apple Macintosh, IBM OS/2, Digital Open VMS and all major Motif platforms.
 Seamless integration through open architecture
The two product sets interoperate through the Neuron Data open application programming interface (API), a comprehensive set of C libraries and calls that enable tools from Segue and other vendors to work with Neuron Data modules seamlessly and efficiently. Neuron Data's underlying technology, its Elements Architecture, supports any industry- standard API, thereby making Neuron Data products easy to "plug and play" with third-party tools, libraries and applications.
"The foundation of Neuron Data's products is a completely open architecture capable of supporting thousands of third-party products," said Patrick Perez, CEO of Neuron Data. "The Segue QA Partner testing tool enables developers to bullet-proof software for demanding user environments. As our customers implement client/server technologies for the entire enterprise, the ability to support products like QA Partner will enable these developers to ensure the highest quality standards while trimming overall development cycles significantly."
"Enterprise GUI testing is a major area of focus for Segue Software," said Dr. Laurance Kepple, president of Segue Software. "Partnerships with companies like Neuron Data will allow us to more completely address customer requirements for rapid, high-quality software development."
