NETWORK SYSTEMS FORMS ALLIANCE WITH TMD
 CONSULTING, A SOFTWARE DEVELOPER
MINNEAPOLIS, April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Network Systems(R) Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCO) announced today a strategic alliance with TMD Consulting, Inc., a software development firm based in Minneapolis. Under the new agreement just signed by both companies, Network Systems becomes the exclusive marketing agent for TMD-developed software products worldwide, and the two companies will work closely on new software development projects.
"Network Systems has worked with TMD for over a decade," said Warren Pillsbury, vice president of Marketing for Network Systems. "This agreement takes the relationship to a new level and recognizes the strategic importance of the value-added solutions that together we can bring to our customers."
"The Network Systems field sales and support organizations represent a powerful ally for TMD," said William Treacy, president of TMD. "By focusing our efforts through a single market channel, we continue to provide the highest-quality support to customers."
The primary product set developed to date by TMD is USER-Access, an application-layer facility that allows scheduled and interactive file transfers between dissimilar systems. Users on networks with different media and protocols, such as TCP/IP, NETEX(R), DECnet, Token Ring, Novell, FDDI, Ethernet and HYPERchannel(R), can employ USER-Access for moving files between two computers, executing commands on a remote computer, and submitting local files to remote systems for printing, tape spooling or job execution.
USER-Access also has a Central Archiving function that allows for networked backup and retrieval of files. By putting the critical task of backup in the data center, Central Archiving helps organizations do a better job of protecting their vital data while controlling operating expenses. Over 100 customers have installed USER-Access.
Network Systems, based in Minneapolis, is a leading supplier of high-performance networking solutions.
