NETWORK ASSOCIATES UNVEILS SNIFFER PORTABLE LAB 10GBE ANALYZER.

Network Associates, Inc. (NYSE:NET), a provider of intrusion prevention solutions, has unveiled the Sniffer Portable Lab 10 Gigabit Ethernet Analyzer, the first product from the Sniffer Portable Lab Series designed to optimize performance and maximize throughput on today's high-speed, long-range WAN and MAN networks, as well as traditional LAN networks.

The Sniffer Portable Lab Series complements the full-line of Sniffer Portable products, and is designed to monitor and troubleshoot emerging high-speed networks. With the Sniffer Portable Lab 10GbE Analyzer, Network Associates is helping early adopters of next-generation technology reduce the risk of their applications roll-outs by enabling them to test new functionality before implementing corporate-wide deployments.

Because today's business and technical applications continue to increase demands on corporate networks, the need to have a highly instrumented, optimized networks has become increasingly essential to minimize downtime, brownouts and the business expenses associates with those network outages. As the growth of network traffic continually forces businesses to look to high-speed technologies to solve increased bandwidth demands, 10 Gigabit Ethernet technology is continuing to emerge to provide the necessary capacity and performance for core network requirements. The Sniffer Portable Lab 10GbE Analyzer combines the ease of use that Sniffer Portable solutions are known for with this next-generation technology, to monitor and analyze 10GbE links with an unsurpassed rate of data capture.

"As a critical research facility that the U.S. government depends on to help solve the nation's security problems, it is imperative that our network is running at peak performance at all times -- we can not be caught with network downtime and outages in our environment," said Dennis Bateman, senior network systems analyst at Sandia National Laboratories. "We have relied on the Sniffer Portable Lab 10GbE Analyzer for monitoring our high-speed networks to ensure that they are running consistently and efficiently, and to identify and pinpoint network issues."

The Sniffer Portable Lab 10GbE Analyzer is designed for network managers who need to monitor and troubleshoot next-generation networks and the applications that run on them. The self-contained, turnkey appliance provides unmatched capabilities including:

-- High Performance Capture Engine -- With full-line, full-duplex capture rates, the product boasts no frame loss so that customers do not have to worry about missed data. The purpose-built high performance hardware offers a one gigabyte buffer capacity to ensure that all of the data

is available for analysis.

-- Simplified Data Access -- Sniffer Portable Lab 10GbE Analyzer incorporates easy to use drag and drop features to save time and reduce errors when analyzing data, while the multiple configuration options provide complex filters to rapidly isolate the correct data for faster problem resolution. With the ability to easily sort through large quantities of data, users can pinpoint critical issues in the shortest amount of time.

-- Real-Time Statistics -- These statistics provide the ability to gather performance information without sacrificing full-line rate capture, giving network managers an accurate overview of network performance with the full details required to investigate problems. The graphical statistics charts allow IT professionals to easily recognize changes or anomalies in network behavior and traffic patterns, which provides instant insight into potential problems and quick access to statistical details.

-- Advanced Triggers and Filters -- Triggers can be utilized for detecting obscure or intermittent problems that can occur at any time. The advanced alarm features provide the ability to set up complex trigger thresholds to quickly notify IT staff when performance degrades. With capture filtering, network managers can easily create filters to isolate the specific traffic to investigate, rather than having to sort through large quantities of data.

As part of the Sniffer Technologies product family, the Sniffer Portable Lab 10GbE Analyzer delivers best-in-class decodes to provide a consistent view of network traffic and Expert analysis to help pinpoint the root causes of network problems, and intelligently defining and explaining likely solutions.

"Sniffer Technologies continues to push the envelope of emerging technologies -- delivering superior products and solutions for leading-edge network management. The introduction of the Sniffer Portable Lab 10 Gigabit Ethernet Analyzer further solidifies our position as the de facto market leader in network monitoring and analysis tools," said Christopher Thompson, vice president of product marketing for the Sniffer Technologies division at Network Associates. "Last year we took the power of Sniffer Technologies to small and mid-sized customers with our Netasyst network analyzer, and today we bring a new 10 gigabit solution to the labs and test networks of our most sophisticated customers and channel partners. We know that they rely on our solutions to stop worrying about technology risks and start taking advantage of the benefits offered by next generation high-speed networks."

The Sniffer Portable Lab 10 GbE Analyzer is available today through the Network Associates direct sales force and authorized channel partners. For additional information on the Sniffer Portable Lab 10 GbE Analyzer, call Sniffer Technologies at 1-800-SNIFFER.
