NETRIX ANNOUNCES FIRST QUARTER EXPECTATIONS

HERNDON, Va., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Netrix Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: NTRX) announced today that it expects its results for the first quarter ending March 31, 1993, to be substantially below its expectations. Charles W. Stein, president and CEO, said, "We are still working to complete the quarter, but at this time it appears that revenues could be as low as $4 million, which would result in a quarterly loss that could be as high as $2 million or 24 cents per share."
Stein continued: "The softness in the international market that we began to see in the fourth quarter of 1992 has had a more severe impact on new customer networks and the expansion of our existing customer networks than we expected.
"Although we are disappointed with the situation in the first quarter, we remain positive about the longer term outlook for the year. Our customers' networks are performing well in the field, and many customers have indicated that they plan significant expansions during the year. The rollout of our partnership with Siemens, AG is going well. A number of new products and features will be coming to market this year, and we believe that they will continue to improve our competitive position in the marketplace. In addition, the processor module for the Series 10 product line, the availability of which also impacted first quarter results, is now available for volume shipment. We expect network expansions that will utilize this product to begin in the near future.
Netrix will hold a conference call on Wednesday morning, March 24. To become part of that conference, call 212-346-6380 at 8:30 a.m. EST.
