NETMANAGE FIRST TO OFFER NFS CLIENT & SERVER FOR WINDOWS NT

CUPERTINO, Calif., May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- NetManage this week announced it will be porting its popular NFS client and server software to Windows NT. The NFS functionality will be the first implementation in the market as well as the first to offer both a client and server.
According to Zvi Alon, president of NetManage, "Offering NFS on the NT is a very strategic move for us. Networking is an integral part of NT, but a powerful operating system like NT cannot be fully integrated into a TCP/IP network without an NFS client and server. It is our intention to be the premier supplier of NFS for NT by being the first company into the market and the only one with a client and server," added Alon.
 Both NFS Client and Server
A client and server for NFS gives UNIX- and NT-based computers access to each other's file systems. The NFS client lets NT users access files located on any other computer on the network that has an NFS server. The files appear as if they were located locally on the PC. The NFS server allows any other computer on the network, PC, mini or mainframe, that has an NFS client to see the NT's files as their own. Other network users can see the files on the NT using the tools that are native to their system.
