NESTOR REPORTS RESULTS

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- NESTOR, INC (OTC) today announced operating results for the second quarter and first half of fiscal 1993, ended Dec. 31, 1992. Revenues for the first half of fiscal 1993 increased to $1,127,339 from $984,337 in fiscal 1992. Net loss per share for the first six months declined to $0.08 in 1993 from $0.18 in 1992. For the quarter ended Dec. 31, 1992, revenues were $419,359 as compared with $501,844 in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, but net loss per share declined to $0.06 from $0.09 in fiscal 1992.
The Company and Intel Corporation last week announced delivery to Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of the Ni1000 neural- network chip. David Fox, president and chief executive officer of NESTOR, said, "The Ni1000 chip will bring advanced recognition capabilities to standard PCs for such applications as speech and handwriting recognition, fax and document reading, and medical and industrial-vision applications."
At the same time, the Company announced the completion of a private placement of units of Convertible Preferred Stock and warrants to purchase Common Stock. Subscribers in the private placement purchased all of the $820,000 of units that remained unsold in 1992 upon termination of the Company's private offering that year. Fox stated that the proceeds of the private placement would "ease the strain on our working capital" but noted that the Company will be seeking additional financing.
All NESTOR products are based on the Company's proprietary neural- network technology which operates as adaptive information-processing systems that "learn" from experience. All products can be taught to recognize complex configurations of data, and to interpret input patterns.
