NESTLE S.A. REPORTS GOOD SALES INCREASE IN 1992

VEVEY, Switzerland, Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- In 1992, the Nestle Group reached consolidated sales of Sfr. 54.5 billion, up some 8 percent from the previous year. The increase is due to favorable development of sales in most countries, except for Brazil.
In spite of economic problems in the majority of the countries of the world, volume sales, disregarding acquisitions and disinvestments, grew at 3.3 percent. Without the sharp drop in sales in Brazil, volume growth would have stood at 4.2 percent. Significant increases were noticeable in United States and Far East.
Provided that the economic recession does not worsen dramatically, and provided that the currency exchange rates do not undergo a fundamental modification vis-a-vis the Swiss Franc, the Nestle Group expects sales volumes, consolidated sales and profit to show continued growth during the current year.
The company will announce its net profit and its dividend proposal after the meeting of the board of directors on March 24, 1993. The shareholders' meeting will take place on May 27, 1993 at 3 p.m. in the Palais de Beaulieu in Lausanne.
