NESTLE AND NUTRASWEET ANNOUNCE JOINT VENTURE; LAUNCH OF NEW TABLETOP PRODUCT LINE IN MEXICO

 MEXICO CITY, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Compania Nestle S.A. de C.V. and NutraSweet de Mexico today announced the formation of Ingredientes Nutritivos, S.A. de C.V. This joint venture will combine company resources to develop and market new food products in Mexico. The two companies will be investing jointly in all facets of the business.
 "This strategic alliance," said Carlos Eduardo Represas, chairman and chief executive officer of Nestle Group Mexico, "is a prime example of the regional cooperation that many see as the future of trade between the United States and Mexico. The Nestle sales and distribution network combined with NutraSweet marketing expertise will offer the Mexican consumer products as part of a healthier lifestyle."
 The new company also announced the launch of a new line of tabletop products sweetened with NutraSweet(R) brand sweetener. Recognizing the demands of today's active lifestyles, these tabletop products from Ingredientes Nutritivos offer variety and a great-tasting, sweet addition to any meal, at home or away.
 The line, named for the ingredient, includes packets, tablets, and a granulated form that is spoon-for-spoon like sugar. NutraSweet Endulzante de Bajas Calorias comes in pre-measured packets in boxes of 50, 100, 200 and 500, as well as tablets for portability. The spoon- for-spoon product provides consumers with a familiar granulated form that looks, tastes, spoons and measures like sugar without all the extra calories. It comes in two sizes -- 28 and 56 grams.
 The line will be available to Mexican consumers in November displaying both the Nestle and NutraSweet logos.

 Nestle Mexico has over one billion dollars in sales annually and more than 60 years of heritage in Mexico. NutraSweet(R) brand sweetener can be found in nearly 60 products in Mexican supermarkets and the NutraSweet brand name is recognized by almost 80 percent of consumers.
 Compania Nestle S.A. de C.V. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nestle S.A.-Switzerland.
