NEPA marketing conference set for November 3-5, 2004, in New Orleans.

The Newsletter & Electronic Publishers Association's annual fall marketing conference, now in its 21st year, is a smaller, more informal, and more of a "working" meeting than the association's annual international June conference in Washington, D.C., which comes with high-priced keynote speakers, ballroom-size general sessions, an awards luncheon, and reports from and the installation of NEPA's officers.

The marketing conference is also perceived as more "fun"--last year's was in Las Vegas, this year's is at the Hotel InterContinental in New Orleans, November 3-5, 2004. (Coming just days after the U.S. Presidential election should prove interesting, too.)

The conference itself, billed as "Blow [as in the program's picture of a jazz saxaphone] Your Response & Profitability Through the Roof," runs from Thursday morning, November 4, to Friday noon.

Two add-on sessions are held on Wednesday, the Marketing Directors Roundtable (9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m) and the Sales Directors Roundtable (1:00-5:00 p.m.) In addition, an Editorial Directors Roundtable runs concurrently with the main conference.

Conference chairmen Ed Coburn, of Harvard Health Publications, and Samantha Saldukas, of The Coding Institute, will kick off the conference with the results of the association's 2004 Marketing Survey, revealing the latest picture of the industry's marketing practices and numbers and stats, which can be used as benchmarks.

Luncheon speaker will be Richard Harper, associate publisher of the legendary and highly successful Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report. Richard and Andrew Harper (both pseudonyms so they can remain anonymous with their real names when exploring new "hideaways") will describe how they have grown from a single newsletter company to a professional travel company offering discount and upgrade programs for its subscribers, hotel auctions on its website, and other travel agency services.

Conference fees for NEPA members are $599 for the first registrant and $499 for each additional registrant. Non-member fees are $799 each. For more information and to register, contact NEPA.
