NEON ENHANCES CLASSIC IMS TOOLS.

NEON Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:NESY), Sugar Land, Texas, a provider of Enterprise Access and Integration, Security, and Subsystem Management software products, has unveiled enhancements to its classic IMS tools: Dynamic Index Utility v 2.1, Speed Unload v 2.3 , and Speed Load v 2.3. These classic IMS tools from NEON Systems provide a comprehensive, high-performance solution for the cost- effective maintenance of IMS databases.

"At NEON Systems, we are dedicated to providing software that our customers need. We often hear that data center managers are faced with the challenge of increasing availability, integrity, and performance of their IMS databases to support enterprise business applications; yet, the associated costs to meet these goals are often prohibitive. Today's announcement of the new enhancements to our classic IMS tools reinforces the commitment we have made to our customers -- escalating functionality to meet operational excellence while maintaining affordable software products. The time-saving measures that Dynamic Index Utility is providing is being received with great reviews from customer sites. And we are seeing real-world benchmarks reveal faster unload and load elapsed time than the standard tools shipped with IMS," stated Joe Backer, president and CEO, NEON Systems.

Database administrators traditionally image copy primary and secondary indices whenever databases are unloaded and reloaded -- adding complexity and cost to reorganizations and other maintenance tasks. Using image copies also lengthens recovery, reducing database availability. Dynamic Index Utility streamlines database maintenance and raises IT productivity. It eliminates the need to make image copies of indices and enables database administrators to add indices to databases without reorganizing.

Unloading and reloading databases are typically the longest, most costly IMS procedures. Speed Unload and Speed Load reduce ongoing maintenance costs while shortening batch windows for reorganizations. In addition, these tools provide application program interfaces (APIs) that allow users broad access to high- speed input and output functions.

Dynamic Index Utility, Speed Unload, and Speed Load, like all NEON Enterprise Subsystem Management tools, effectively operate in open heterogeneous tools environments.
