NENDELS RELEASES SECOND-QUARTER RESULTS FOR FISCAL 1992

NENDELS RELEASES SECOND-QUARTER RESULTS FOR FISCAL 1992
SEATTLE, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Nendels Corp. (NASDAQ: NEND) today reported revenues of $350,804 for the second quarter ended Dec. 31, compared to $376,747 for second quarter 1991. Net loss for the period was $236,605, or 19 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $60,803, or 7 cents per share, for the same period last year.
John Matlick, president and chief executive officer, stated, "The economy has had a significant impact on Nendels Corp. revenues as it has the entire travel industry. Winter quarter, historically the weakest month for the travel industry, saw diminished travel, thereby reducing occupancy and average room rates. Nendels Corp.'s royalties are occupancy and rate driven.
"Additionally, new franchise sales were lower because of the unavailability of financing for renovations and new construction. Expenses for the quarter were lower than projected."
The company is increasing its marketing efforts to counteract lower chainwide occupancy. The campaign, which will be launched in March, will increase name brand awareness and is designed to positively impact occupancy and new franchise sales. The company projections are on target for profitable quarters in calendar 1992.
Nendels is a hotel franchising company that markets Nendels Inns, Suites, Hotels and Valu Inns. Nendels has 69 franchises with more than 5,000 rooms in eight western states and British Columbia.
