MINNEAPOLIS, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Country Hospitality Corporation, a major restaurant and lodging subsidiary of Carlson Hospitality Group, today announced the appointment of Curtis Nelson as executive vice president. Nelson will replace Frank Steed.
The appointment was announced by Juergen Bartels, president of Carlson Hospitality Group, Inc., the parent company of Country Hospitality. Country Hospitality includes two national chains, the 235- unit Country Kitchen(R) Restaurant chain and the 30-unit Country Lodging By Carlson(R) limited-service lodging chain.
"Nelson is a hard working, inspired executive who will continue to build the chain's momentum by leading Country Hospitality at a time when we are unleashing unprecedented national and international growth opportunities for both Country Kitchen Restaurants and Country Lodging By Carlson," said Bartels.
Prior to joining Country Hospitality, Nelson served in a variety of management positions with Radisson Hotels International, most recently as general manager of the award-winning Arrowwood - A Radisson Resort located in Alexandria, Minn.
In other experience, Nelson served in management positions with Four Seasons and Hyatt Hotels. He earned a bachelor of science degree from the renowned Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration.
Nelson's interest in the hospitality industry started as a youth when he was employed by a Country Kitchen restaurant as a busboy.
Country Kitchen Restaurants have been successfully repositioned from a chain of coffee shops to contemporary family-style restaurants. The family-style restaurants feature fast, friendly service and highly flavorful foods not commonly found at other full-service restaurants at a reasonable price. Country Kitchen restaurants enjoy a broad economic and demographic customer base. They have a special appeal to families seeking a full-menu dining experience.
There are currently 235 Country Kitchen restaurants in the United States and Canada.
Country Lodging by Carlson operates in the limited service segment of the lodging industry with 30 locations in the United States and Canada.
A typical Country Lodging By Carlson property features an inviting country-style architecture and charming interior decor. The lobby offers a cozy atmosphere with a blazing fireplace, oak staircase, stenciled wallcoverings and other characteristics of residential design. Guest rooms feature such furnishings as brass headboards, patchwork quilts, lace curtains and remote-controlled color television. In 1992, Country Hospitality received an unprecedented 98 percent guest satisfaction rating based on guest comment cards.
Country Hospitality, Inc. is part of the Hospitality Group of Carlson Companies, Inc., one of America's largest privately owned corporations with 1992 system-wide revenues of $9.9 billion. Corporate headquarters are located in Minneapolis.
