NEGLECTED DOG THAT CHEWED OFF HIS OWN FOOT THRIVING AFTER FINDING NEW HOME.
A JACK Russell that chewed off his own leg after being neglected by its owner is now "thriving" after being found a new home.
The Daily Post reported last month how Peter Neville Tellet was banned from keeping dogs for 10 years after pleading guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to SpongeBob.
The 58-year-old said he noticed his pet had lost its foot two weeks before RSPCA inspectors called at his home in East Green, Sealand, but did not think he was in pain.
RSPCA inspector Fred Armstrong told how SpongeBob had to have some more of his infected leg amputated, adding: "The injury was infected and must have been so painful.
"I was so shocked. We don't know what had happened, but it was suggested he may have had an issue with his foot and then chewed it off. But we are delighted he is doing really well and has found a forever home."
His new owners said: "He is a real character. Although he has only got three legs, it doesn't seem to bother him at all."
