WEATHERDATA'S NEW RESEARCH DIVISION HAS ANSWERS
WICHITA, Kan., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on current population growth trends, how much energy will be needed in the year 2000, to run air conditioners in the hottest parts of the country? What kind of weather might have affected a plane crash? Is there too much gusting wind in a remote area of the Great Plains to erect a standard transmitting tower?
WeatherData Inc. has introduced a new Weather Research Division to answer these questions, and many others, for those who base decisions on weather-related information.
"Our new division is specifically designed to answer those tough questions that can make a difference for engineers, insurance actuaries, attorneys and energy resource management professionals, among others," WeatherData President Mike Smith explained. "We now have the data to pinpoint information about weather conditions in the United States on any given day for the past 50 years.
"Our expanded database gives us access to worldwide climatological conditions few others have. Plus, our computer capabilities allow us to find the data our customers need without any undue delays," Smith said.
The new Weather Research Division will supply raw weather data to subscribers, or give an analysis of the data upon request. The company has already been providing a similar service for the legal profession.
The introduction of new technology is standard operating procedure for WeatherData. Since its founding in 1981, the company has grown tenfold.
Among WeatherData's commercial clients are such prestigious names as: The Los Angeles Times, The Miami Herald, the Santa Fe Railroad Co. and Southern Pacific Railroad, Continental Baking Co., Kansas City Power & Light Co., Cessna Aircraft Corp. and more than sixty others.
