NEC Solutions America Introduces CachePortal to Raise Bar on Edge Caching High-Dynamic Application Content.

Patented On-Demand Edge Caching Dramatically Reduces End-User

Latency While Increasing Application Scalability

NEC Solutions (America) Inc., a premier provider of integrated solutions for the Connected Enterprise in North America, today announced the immediate availability of their new on-demand edge cache software solution, CachePortal(TM). The CachePortal product easily connects to applications to manage high-dynamic Web application content between end-users and the application. Designed to radically improve the end-user's application experience, CachePortal leverages its proprietary "content mapping" software architecture for intelligent content validation processing in order to independently maintain edge cached dynamic content. The result is dramatic gains in user response times and increased application scalability.

CachePortal Caches All Application Content Types

The CachePortal on-demand edge cache software solution is specifically designed to cache any and all application content including real-time dynamic content pages, objects, XML, and Web services. Non-Intrusive CachePortal Engine and Cache Servers

NEC's solution consists of the CachePortal Engine and one or more cache servers. The CachePortal Engine is deployed and run independently of the application, requiring only application level connections to take advantage of its benefits. CachePortal Engine manages content validation on its cache servers by garnering information from traffic on the application servers. CachePortal Engine can connect to the application automatically for certain architecture configurations, or its connection can be made using its SDK to connect to virtually any application architecture. The engine includes an easy-to-use administrative console for configuration and reporting.

CachePortal Cache Servers "watch" traffic from its users and cache the pages in its content manager. Each time a cached page is requested, users are served by the cache servers thereby off-loading traffic from the application tier. Cache servers are placed anywhere between the end-users' locations and the application tier. As a proxy server, the cache servers are placed at remote location offices where a LAN is present. This cache server placement option provides the maximum latency reduction helping to reduce both application and network latency. Alternatively, cache servers may be placed under the load balancer within the datacenter. This solution provides easy control of the cache servers within the same datacenter location as the application servers. There is no limit to the number of cache servers that can be used for on-demand cache server support.
