NDS Metro Middleware Added to IP-PRIME IPTV Solution; SES AMERICOM Offers Technology Choices as Part of Its Fully-Managed IPTV Distribution; IP-PRIME to be Showcased at IBC, Hall 1, Booth # 259.

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Providing telephone and broadband companies with the latest IPTV distribution solutions that only a competitive environment can deliver, SES AMERICOM, an SES GLOBAL company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg stock exchanges: SESG), today announced an agreement to integrate NDS Synamedia(TM) Metro middleware into its IP-PRIME(TM) IPTV content distribution platform. NDS Metro is the second middleware platform added to the open IP-PRIME IPTV delivery system, which is driving competition among technology partners and better solutions and choice for IPTV providers.

Telcos can leverage IP-PRIME and its complete system options, which include Metro middleware, to offer IPTV without the expensive and extensive development and integration associated with the delivery of broadcast quality programming to consumer set top boxes.

"Synamedia Metro is built on the NDS MediaHighway middleware, which is in tens of millions of consumer set top boxes around the world, making it a proven addition to the IP-PRIME IPTV distribution solution," said Alan Young, chief technology officer for SES AMERICOM. "With our multiple middleware options and NDS's conditional access system in place, and set top box announcements on the horizon, IP-PRIME is the leading, fully-managed IPTV system in the U.S."

"A significant operator such as SES AMERICOM choosing Synamedia Metro underlines the major advantages that our next-generation IPTV middleware brings to the telco market," said Nigel Smith, Vice President, NDS Broadband Internet Group. "By distributing our Synamedia Metro solution through the IP-PRIME platform, we're able to deliver advanced IPTV capabilities to the telecommunications industry."

For months, the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) has been testing IP-PRIME IPTV programming distribution from the SES AMERICOM IPTV Broadcast Center in Vernon Valley, New Jersey to consumer homes in several member markets.

"IP-PRIME, with Metro middleware, is a powerful end-to-end IPTV distribution solution, which is enabling hundreds of small and medium-sized telephone and communications companies to easily and cost-effectively meet the growing consumer demands for more choices in service and where it counts most - on the screen," said Steve Bing, senior vice president of video services, sales, and marketing, NRTC. "IP-PRIME has thrown the door wide open for rural and independent communications companies to enter the once cost-prohibitive world of broadcast quality television delivery."

NDS Synamedia Metro middleware is the latest to join a growing roster of leading technology partners aboard the IP-PRIME platform, including Siemens' Myrio middleware and NDS's own end-to-end IPTV content protection and conditional access. Scientific-Atlanta is providing the MPEG-4 encoding system and its ROSA(TM) Network Management System. Globecomm is providing the overall design and integration services as well as the major components for SES AMERICOM's IP-PRIME IPTV Broadcast Distribution Center, where content is aggregated and processed for delivery to telephone company video hubs and direct to consumers set top boxes.

IP-PRIME's fully-managed solution is scheduled to be offered commercially later this year, complete with hundreds of standard and HD television channels available for telco subscribers across the U.S. BellSouth has been testing IP-PRIME's headend solution in trials since November 2005.
