NCR LAUNCHES $12.1 MILLION FACILITIES PROGRAM AT DAYTON COMPLEX

DAYTON, Ohio, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- NCR Corporation announced today a $12.d convenience of NCR office environments, include:
-- $9.1 million to remodel the 458,000 square foot former financial terminals manufacturing facility located at Brown & Caldwell for total occupancy as an office and support services building.
-- $1.4 million to enhance the professional appearance of public spaces and offices at NCR's United States Marketing Group (USG) headquarters on River Park Drive.
-- $1.6 million to raze the 361,000 square foot Corporate Auxiliary Services (CAS) building, adjacent to USG headquarters.
The program will begin immediately and is expected to be completed in March 1994. Local contractors, as well as NCR's building facilities staffs, will be involved in the projects.
"When the financial terminal manufacturing facility became available, we evaluated several options for meeting our office needs including the leasing of commercially-available space," said Gerald E. Behn, director of NCR Corporate Real Estate.
"Employee convenience and sound company asset management made investing in the Dayton complex our best choice."
Behn said that once the decision was made to renovate in Dayton, NCR had to decide whether to invest in the manufacturing facility or the CAS building, since only one building was required.
"Our review found that the CAS building, which dates from 1953, was not designed to function as primary office space. The cost of bringing it up to the standards of other NCR offices could not be justified," said Behn.
The terminal manufacturing facility will be renovated to accommodate support services staffs currently located at CAS.
