NCR DEMONSTRATES ENHANCED VERSION OF COOPERATION AT UNIFORUM

 SAN FRANCISCO, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- NCR Corporation today demonstrated an enhanced version of NCR COOPERATION(TM) that will provide customers with stronger enterprise-wide computing capabilities.
 COOPERATION Release 2.1 provides an expanded range of features and functions for the UNIX(TM) server platform.
 "COOPERATION 2.1 continues NCR's commitment to open, cooperative computing through the support for industry-standard platforms, networks and interfaces," said James E. Clark, general manager, Cooperative Computing Systems Division.
 This new version provides customers with scalable, enterprise-wide support, including:
 -- Broadened server scalability;
 -- Enhanced desktop capabilities;
 -- Single point, local or remote, system administration;
 -- Easy access to object-oriented frameworks;
 -- Updated versions of all third-party components including
 Microsoft Windows(TM) 3.1 and New Wave(TM) 4.1;
 -- Access to Informix(TM) database; and,
 -- Improved calendar, mail and information access.
 COOPERATION 2.1 provides a broader server scalability from NCR System 3000 uniprocessors to multiprocessors creating a flexible enterprise-wide computing environment that offers significant investment protection to our customers. Release 2.1 also delivers support for Windows 3.1 and New Wave 4.1 which are widely used by our customers.
 Upgrades in COOPERATION's Supply Cabinet, which includes "Drag and Drop" software installation, will mean a reduction in costs for an organization. The Supply Cabinet eliminates costly duplication of software and the expense of new software distribution and updates.
 Customers will find improved simplicity and efficiency in enterprise-wide system administration. A new feature provides system administration from all COOPERATION domains, whether local or remote, to facilitate large installation.
 Comprehensive business solutions can be implemented quickly with the new capabilities in COOPERATION System Framework Libraries. The system programmer has access to the framework services from Smalltalk/V Version 2.0 and MicroFocus COBOL.
 A new function that provides access to Informix server database improves the supply of information to a single point on a desktop from the enterprise's information network.
 Enterprise and group teamwork will be greatly improved by the expanded capabilities offered by COOPERATION's Group Calendar and Mail. Such features are just another example of how COOPERATION provides transparent access bringing the information resources of an entire organization to the user's desktop.
 COOPERATION integrated software enables an organization to provide collaborative computing among teams of people. Users can access, collect and manipulate massive amounts of data, as well as share information across an enterprise. In a large commercial organization, COOPERATION allows for distributed computing in a client/server environment.
 NCR(TM), an AT&T Company, develops, manufactures, markets, supports and services enterprise-wide information systems for worldwide markets.
