NCR CORP. ANNOUNCES ALLIANCE WITH WOLLONGONG: NCR WILL SELL
 WOLLONGONG'S PATHWAY ACCESS FOR DOS/WINDOWS
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- NCR(R) Corp. and The Wollongong Group announced today an alliance for the joint development and marketing of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) workgroup support products. As part of the alliance, NCR will co-label and market Wollongong's PathWay Access Products, the first of which will be PathWay Access for DOS/Windows which is being demonstrated by both NCR (Booth 3231) and Wollongong (Booth 2219) at UniForum.
PathWay Access for DOS/Windows is Wollongong's implementation of the TCP/IP suite of protocols and applications for PCs running DOS/Windows and provides interoperability between diverse systems ranging from PCs to supercomputers.
According to William T. O'Shea, NCR senior vice president, Network Products Group, "This alliance brings together the industry's premiere networking talents to ensure that our customers continue to have the most advanced and complete TCP/IP networking products available for NCR's Open Networking Environment (ONE)."
Wollongong's President, Herbert J. Martin, said that "Wollongong sees this strengthened relationship with NCR, a leader in open systems, as an important step that will help us achieve our objectives to provide standards-based network computing to the marketplace."
In 1988, NCR began its affiliation with The Wollongong Group as an OEM for Wollongong's WIN/TCP for UNIX System V Release 3 on NCR's Tower(R) family of UNIX-based computers. WIN/TCP is now offered on the NCR System 3000 family of UNIX System V Release 4 general purpose computers and, under the terms of their new alliance, NCR and Wollongong will jointly develop and market new generations of products based upon the TCP/IP communications protocol. This alliance will provide leading edge technology and new feature content, as well as exceptional support, for customers that are building networked information systems based upon NCR's Open Cooperative Computing Architecture (OCCA).
Both full and runtime-only versions of PathWay products for DOS/Windows are available this quarter from NCR in six usage level configurations: 1-user, 4-user, 8-user, 16-user, 32-user, and 64-user. Full version list prices range from $395 for the one-user package to $11,070 for the 64-user package.
