NCJW'S NATIONAL DAY OF THE WORKING PARENT BRINGS CHILD CARE HANDBOOK TO DAYTON HUDSON STORES

 MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning today, customers may review a reference copy of the handbook, "Choosing Family Child Care" while visiting any of Dayton Hudson Corporation's Target, Mervyn's, Dayton's, Hudson's and Marshall Field's stores in 33 states. Dayton Hudson is making the handbooks available in recognition of the National Day of the Working Parent, established by the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW).
 "Choosing Family Child Care," by Kathy Modigliani of Boston's Wheelock College, is designed to help parents identify and select quality family child care. It covers many common parental concerns, including health, safety, and how to seek and pay for a quality child care.
 Through September, reference copies of "Choosing Family Child Care" can be found near the community bulletin boards in all Target stores and in the children's departments at Mervyn's, Dayton's, Hudson's and Marshall Field's. Non-profit child care resource and referral agencies in many communities also carry the handbook.
 "Since 1988, Dayton Hudson has committed $10 million to increase quality child care in America through our Child Care Aware program. Our customers and employees have told us they want quality child care. Once they see this handbook, they may want to order their own free copy," said Stephen E. Watson, president of Dayton Hudson Corporation.
 Through September, parents may obtain a free copy of "Choosing Family Child Care" by contacting NCJW toll-free at 1-800-622-NCJW.
 NCJW'S National Day of the Working Parent is designed to draw attention on the importance of family-work balance. NCJW is coordinating the event with sponsorship from Marriott and support from AT&T, IBM, The Travelers, Dayton Hudson and other companies.
 Dayton Hudson's Child Care Aware initiative provides parents with a five-step plan and a checklist to help them identify and select quality child care. Parents can also call the Child Care Aware toll-free national information line at 1-800-424-2246 for referrals to non-profit child care resource and referral centers in their own communities.
 Child Care Aware is a cooperative effort of Dayton Hudson, its foundation and stores and several prominent child care organizations: Child Care Action Campaign, National Association for the Education of Young Children, National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies and the National Association for Family Day Care.
 The National Council of Jewish Women, Inc., is a volunteer organization, inspired by Jewish values, that works through a program of research, education, advocacy and community service to improve the quality of life for women, children and families and strives to ensure individual rights and freedoms for all.
