NCAA 94: Eze's putback lifts Perpetual.
Perpetual Help relied on Prince Eze's putback before the buzzer in denying Lyceum a sweep, 83-81, last night in NCAA men's basketball at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
With time running out and the game tied, 81-all, Eze caught a wayward three-point attempt by Tonton Peralta and threw the ball off the glass and into the basket as the buzzer sounded for the Altas' seventh win in 12 games.
Eze collapsed to the floor screaming as the shot went in and he was mobbed by teammates.
The loss denied the Pirates a repeat sweep of the season as they absorbed their first loss after 12 straight victories.
While Eze hit the biggest shot of all, it was Edgar Charcos who paved the way for the game-winner with four straight points that tied it at 81.
Earlier, John Quinto had a triple-double as Letran ripped Mapua, 84-69.
