 NBI ANNOUNCES LAYOFFS
BOULDER, Colo., June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- NBI, Inc. (PSE: NBI)

announced today a reduction in the number of employees at its Boulder headquarters. The reductions were largely in the company's software division and were necessitated by disappointing sales of Legacy(R), NBI's word processing program for Windows(R).
The company also announced that it was ceasing development of Legacy 2.1, the next version of its word processing product.
Ronald P. Erickson, NBI's recently appointed chairman and chief executive officer, stated, "It is extremely difficult for a single product software company to have an impact in the viciously competitive market for PC word processors. Our lack of Legacy sales means that we have to let many very talented people go."
The company's systems integration and service divisions remain largely unaffected by the layoffs.
Based in Boulder, Colo., NBI, Inc. provides network systems integration and services a wide base of system users in domestic locations and the United Kingdom.
