 NBD OFFERS SUBORDINATED NOTES
 DETROIT, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- NBD Bancorp, Inc. (NYSE: NBD)


has announced the offering of $200 million of 8.10 percent Subordinated Notes through an underwriting group jointly managed by Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Keefe Bruyette & Woods, Inc.
 The Notes mature March 1, 2002, and are priced at 99.911 percent to yield 8.113 percent to maturity.
 Subordinated debt of NBD Bancorp is rated A-1 by Moody's and AA-minus by Standard & Poor's.
 Net proceeds from the offering will be used for general corporate purposes including the funding of additional capital investments in or advances to subsidiaries, possible future acquisitions and the repayment of short-term indebtedness incurred for such purposes. Pending ultimate application, the net proceeds of the Notes may be used to make short- term investments.
 Other members of the underwriting syndicate include J.P. Morgan Securities Inc.; Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated; Prudential Securities Inc.; Salomon Brothers Inc. and Shearson Lehman Brothers Inc.
