TODAY and Audiences Will Plan Wedding of Real Couple

The Knot (; AOL kw: weddings), the leading online wedding resource, and NBC's TODAY show, the No. 1-rated morning news show, are getting hitched for a 12-week event, entitled "TODAY Ties The Knot."

This truly unprecedented series - scheduled to begin the week of June 19th - will feature the live, on-air and online planning of one couple's wedding. Throughout the series, Carley Roney, co-founder of The Knot, will appear on TODAY to present ideas for each aspect of the couple's wedding. Nearly every detail - from invitations to the honeymoon - will be determined by votes cast weekly on the Web by TODAY's viewers.

Starting today, to-be-weds across the country will be able to submit their stories for consideration by TODAY and The Knot. Entries can be submitted via and and will be accepted no later than Friday, May 19, 2000. The search for couples to participate in TODAY Ties The Knot was announced this morning on TODAY and will be given on-air promotion over the course of the next two weeks. In addition, TODAY Ties The Knot will also be cross-promoted online at both the TODAY and The Knot sites.

From the applications submitted, four couples will be selected to be featured on the debut segment of TODAY Ties The Knot. Following the segment, viewers will be able to vote online for which couple will have their wedding planned and celebrated live on TODAY. Each week, viewers will cast their votes to determine the style and substance of the couple's wedding. The series will culminate with the actual ceremony, broadcast live from TODAY Plaza in Rockefeller Center.
