NAVSUP GLS ... NAVSUP GLS chooses Senior Sailor of the Year.

Damage Controlman First Class (DC1) (SW/ AW) Jessica Nedzweckas was named Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Global Logistics Support's (GLS) enterprise Senior Sailor of the Year during a senior leadership summit in San Diego held this past November.

She was selected among seven candidates representing a global network of eight NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Centers (FLC) stretching from Yokosuka, Japan, across the east and west coasts of the United States, to Sigonella, Italy and Bahrain. She is the leading petty officer for NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka, Site Sasebo.

DC1 Nedzweckas is joined by NAVSUP GLS Bluejacket of the Year, LSSN Shekera Porchia, also from NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka; Junior Sailor of the Year LS3 Vanessa Alvarez, NAVSUP FLC Sigonella; and Sailor of the Year LS2 Amber Wilson, also from NAVSUP FLC Sigonella. DC1 Nedzweckas will now represent NAVSUP GLS at the annual NAVSUP echelon II Sailor of the Year competition.

"I couldn't be more proud, not just of these Sailors here, but all our Sailors representing NAVSUP GLS and our Fleet Logistics Centers around the world," Rear Adm. Vincent Griffith said during the announcement ceremony in front of NAVSUP GLS leaders from around the world. "They truly demonstrate the devotion our Sailors have for their commands, their shipmates and their communities."

DC1 Nedzweckas manages 127 Sailors and Japanese Master Labor Contractors (MLCs) in operations, maintenance and security across three independent fuel terminals, and at eight Defense Fuels and supply points widely dispersed around the Western Pacific. She also manages $800 million in infrastructure, ensuring the safe delivery, receipt, and environmentally safe storage of Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) owned bulk petroleum war reserves and is credited as key to the department's zero safety mishaps record, contributing to an enduring regional safety record of more than 1,700 days without an accident.

"She is a great example of leadership to our other Sailors, particularly to those Sailors she manages day to day," explained Dale Rieck, the executive director of NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka. "As our Site Sasebo community relations representative, she is constantly seeking opportunities to promote better relations with the U.S. and our host nation, and applies the same devotion to the leadership and teamwork she provides to her department."

DC1 Nedzweckas is NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka Site Sasebo's Command Career Counselor, advancement training and combined federal campaign coordinator. She has coordinated or participated in five major Sasebo community projects, organized the Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo (CFAS) Junior Sailor Appreciation Day and was recently elected vice president of CFAS Petty Officer Association.
