NAVISTAR FINANCIAL CORPORATION FILES REGISTRATION STATEMENT WITH SEC TO ISSUE $100 MILLION OF SENIOR SUBORDINATED NOTES

 CHICAGO, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Navistar Financial Corporation today filed a registration statement on form S-2 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to issue $100 million of senior subordinated notes, the proceeds of which will be used to redeem its 11.95 percent subordinated debentures due December 1995.
 The term of the new senior subordinated notes will be between five and ten years and will be set, along with the interest rate, prior to the effective date of the registration statement. J. P. Morgan Securities Inc. and Lehman Brothers Inc. will underwrite and co-manage the offering.
 A registration statement relating to these notes has been filed with the SEC but has not yet become effective. These notes may not be sold nor may offers to buy be accepted prior to the time the registration statement becomes effective.
