FILE SUITS AGAINST SANTA FE PACIFIC PIPELINE PARTNERS, L.P.
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Santa Fe Pacific Pipeline Partners, L.P. (NYSE: SFL) (SFPP) announced that Navajo Refining Co. and El Paso Refinery, L.P. have filed suits against SFPP in New Mexico and Texas, respectively. Both suits seek damages resulting from SFPP's alleged failure to provide additional pipeline capacity to Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz., from El Paso, Texas.
In conjunction with its suit, Navajo Refining Co. is also seeking an injunction to prohibit SFPP from reversing the direction of product flow in one of its pipelines between Tucson and Phoenix.
Irvin Toole Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer of the General Partner stated, "We have reviewed both suits with outside counsel and find no merit in either. We believe that SFPP has acted properly with respect to providing capacity to our customers."
In a related filing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission today, El Paso Refinery, L.P. is also seeking to block the reversal of the Tucson to Phoenix pipeline. In addition, the filing challenges SFPP's proration policy and its existing tariffs from El Paso to Tucson and Phoenix. This filing is currently being reviewed.
