NATWEST TO OFFER LOANS TO AID STORM DAMAGE VICTIMS

 NEW YORK, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- National Westminster Bancorp announced today that its subsidiary banks will approve and provide loan monies within two business days to help area residents repair storm- damaged properties.
 "We recognize that many people are in need of money for quick repair of roofs, wiring, heating, and other such necessities," said Andrew Haste, senior vice president in charge of consumer loans for NatWest. "We hope to ease their distress and help them begin the recovery process."
 NatWest will offer unsecured personal loans in amounts from $3,000 to $5,000 for terms of one to five years. In addition, the bank will accept any valid insurance claim and will provide loans on those claims, up to $15,000. These loans can be obtained through Jan. 14. Individuals can apply for the loans at any of NatWest's 265 branch offices in New York or New Jersey, or they can call 1-800-NatWest in New York or 1-800-333-5922 in New Jersey. Those with valid insurance claims, however, must apply for loans in person at any NatWest office.
