NATWEST OFFERS NEW HOME IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITY LOAN

NEW YORK, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- National Westminster Bank USA has launched an unsecured, below market rate loan to enable homeowners and renters to borrow up to $5,000 to improve their properties. The bank's new Home Improvement Opportunity Loan product is geared toward assisting low and moderate income families.
"Many people do not have sufficient assets to secure loans, and therefore find the loan process intimidating," said Susan Rice, NatWest senior vice president, who heads the organization's community development efforts. "We want to take the barriers away so that people have easier access to funds to fix up their properties."
With this loan, payments may be scheduled to suit a borrower's budget, with schedules ranging from six months to three years. There are no application fees or closing costs and applicants need not present proof of improvements. Applicants may apply for the loan at any NatWest branch office or call 1-800-NatWest.
National Westminster Bank USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of National Westminster Bancorp (NYSE: NW), which has $23 billion in assets and operates some 260 branch offices in New York and New Jersey.
